Greetings, beloved readers. Today, I want to share with you a message that has been burning in my heart: understanding our purpose in God's Kingdom. The question "Why are we here?" is profound and foundational to our Christian journey. Let's delve into this together.

Finding Clarity in God's Word

In my recent sermon, I reflected deeply on the importance of love and obedience in our lives. As I spoke, the scriptures that came to mind illuminated this topic. In 1 John 4:7-8, we read, "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love." This scripture reminds us that our purpose is rooted in love—loving God and loving one another.

The Significance of Walking in Love

Walking in love means more than just words or feelings; it's about our actions and choices reflecting the love of Christ. As I emphasized during the sermon, 1 John 3:18 urges us, "Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth." This challenges us to move beyond mere sentiment and actively demonstrate God's love in tangible ways.

Understanding the Difference Between "Likes" and Love

I discussed the distinction between "likes" and genuine love. While we may have preferences and interests (likes), our identity as followers of Christ is defined by our capacity to love sacrificially. Reflecting on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, which describes the characteristics of love, I emphasized the enduring nature of love that surpasses personal preferences and comforts.

Embracing Our Identity in Christ

Our identity as Christians is not defined by what we like or enjoy but by our commitment to love. In Ephesians 2:10, we are reminded that "we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." We are here to fulfill God's purposes—to be vessels of His love and grace in a broken world.

Responding to God's Call

As we reflect on our purpose, let's respond to God's call to love boldly and authentically. In Matthew 22:37-39, Jesus instructs us, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." This commandment encapsulates our purpose—to love God wholeheartedly and to extend that love to others.

Conclusion

In conclusion, dear friends, let's embrace our calling to love as Christ loved us. Let our lives be a testimony of God's transforming love, impacting those around us and glorifying His name. As we ponder the question "Why are we here?" may our hearts resonate with the truth that we are here to love and serve God and others. Let's walk in obedience, knowing that our lives have eternal significance in God's Kingdom.
